My primary area of study in Law School was analyzing the university policies of legal educators in Canada, specifically, how they interplay with the regulations created by a non-statutory entity, the Federation of Law Societies of Canada ("FLSC").
I have also conducted a similar amount of research in administrative law. My academic interests in this area focused on the shifting standard of reasonableness required of administrative decisions and how the decision-makers are bound to consider the Charter values for the parties while simultaneously being shielded from direct Charter scrutiny.
Additionally, I dedicated a year to researching the procedural gaps between internal university discipline processes and the criminal justice system under Dr. Nicole O'Byrne of UNB Law.
I have recently performed a comparative analysis of the policies of 17 English-speaking law faculties in Canada. I compared their academic accommodation policies, as well as their appeal procedures for matters such as grade reviews. I have identified several glaring policy-related gaps and will provide feedback to their regulators this week.
If given the opportunity, I would be thrilled to further discuss my research in an interview. My experience in these matters would be of great benefit to UPEI.
